Can I actually substitute corn/sunflower oil with olive oil?

I am thinking of making some fried pumps, but the recipe calls for corn/sunflower oil, yet I have neither. If I use olive oil, is it gonna be bad?Can I actually substitute corn/sunflower oil with olive oil?
The burning temp of olive oil can not with stand the high temperatures you need for frying, NO you do not want to use it. Your oil will burn hence ruining your food. Can I actually substitute corn/sunflower oil with olive oil?
